Volleyball

This year the boys’ volleyball team was coached by Ms. Woodcroft, Mr. Morrison and Ashley Judson. The team traveled from Delhi, Valley heights, Waterford, as well as Dunnville and Hagersville for tournaments and regular games. The team had a tough year states Mr. Morrison. However, by the end of the season, he was happy to see the teammates realize their positions and was excited “to see the lightbulbs go off in the players.”

Ms. Woodcroft “loved how both teams played with heart and worked together and encouraged each other” during playoff games. “Both teams were able to show off their talents.” The coaches are looking forward to the next season! Job well done teams!

The teams were- junior boys, Noah Beauvais, Robbie burke, Eligh Drehmer, Lucas Ecker, Tyler Foster, Donovan Helder, Jay Holland, Kyle Mullings, Landon Rolsma. Senior boys, Tom Bird, Ethan Buckle, Judah Chang, Isaac Drehmer, Morgan Ferguson, Liam Gillyatt, Nick MacDonald, Carter Paes, Logan Smith, Morgan Walker.

Girls’ basketball

  

The girls’ basketball team “placed 2nd in their division and lost a really close game to Hagersville in the division finals” states coach Mr. Spence. His favorite moments from this season were “travelling for away games and hearing the karaoke in the back of the bus as the team bonded and got to know each other.”  By the end, the team was able to play at a remarkably high level.

The team was- Paige Sherk, Cayla Kindy (grade 12) Sierra Cromwell, Mj Morniga, Kelsey Klassen (grade 11) Eva Kanga, Caitlyn Thompson, Kyleigh Whyte, Brookelyn Nagel (grade 10) Hannah Muirhead, and Zoe Tjepkenna (grade 9)

Mr. Spence loved “how they all pulled together and encouraged each other during close games and had an exciting time playing.” Near the end of the season the team was slowed down due to a few injured teammates, but still strived to finish the season. Excellent job team!

Field hockey

 This year’s field hockey team was coached by Mrs. Brooks and Mrs. Furtney, the team, was able to travel to the turf at PJ for their games. The team was junior and senior girls “who were natural athletes” states Mrs. Brooks.

The team was – Miranda Belk, Taryn Cooper, Kate Fernie, Ashely Judson (grade 12) Medea Faulkner, Taylor Fess, Kelsey Klassen, Abby Lise, Madylin Lord (grade 11) Ruby Cooper, Jenessa Lise, Hannah Muirhead (grade 9) congratulations senior MVP Taryn Cooper (goalie) and junior MVP Hannah Muirhead.

“The team played most weeks with just enough or not enough to field a whole team but still remained just as competitive.” The team played very well. Playing a competitive game against McKinnon only just losing the game by two points in the last few minutes. Good job team!

Cross country

This year’s cross-country team had a very early start, going from morning workouts to a meet called the “Adrenaline Cross Country Relay” in Brantford. The team started with the AABHN qualifier race, which led to the team qualifying for CWOSSA. Gavin Mathieson won the novice boys 4k race. Caitlyn Thompson placed 6th in the junior girls 5k.

CWOSSA was held near Sauble beach. “The team ran very well,” stated coach Mr. Mann, Caitlyn and Gavin both qualified for OFSAA. OFSAA was held on November 6th at Lakefield college, having Gavin place 9th out of 170 runners and Caitlyn placing 33rd out of 180 runners.

The team was Carly Lord, Ella Stroud, Connor Everets, Joseph Peirson (grade 11) Caitlyn Thompson (grade 10) Ella Long, Addison Jepson, Gavin Mathieson (grade 9). And a shout out to the teacher who supported the team Ms. Vanparys.
