Due to COVID-19 restrictions we unfortunately couldn’t have drama in 2020. However, it’s making an exciting return for 2021. During an interview we asked Ms. Hoecht if we would have drama as normal, but of course there were changes. Some of the hardest changes were, “Masks will definitely be a problem, so is projection and whole body acting, but the masks are the biggest issue.” There will be a few other changes as well, considering that we would normally compete in the drama festival; “Unless another school hosts the festival, we won’t have a drama festival,” stated Ms. Hoecht.
Unfortunately, drama auditions have closed for this school year, but we’re always looking for more help on the stage crew!
I was able to ask a few people who are a part of drama club their thoughts on being allowed to perform a play this year. One of them responded by saying, “I can’t wait to get together with friends again,” which I feel is something we all were missing.
There has been a lot of positive feedback towards the school adjusting to the new Covid protocols. While taking to Mr. Mann about restarting school sports teams, specifically Cross Country, he said, “we didn’t make it to regionals, but I’m happy it’s coming back.”
Cayuga has officially restarted the school newspaper, called “The Green and Gold,” and if you’re reading this article right now, thank you for checking it out!
